Car

Detection of passenger cars in parking areas and traffic zones — the basis for occupancy and vehicle-flow monitoring.

Car detection in parking areas and traffic zones

The "Car" class is an object detector that recognises passenger vehicles in the camera image. It is the foundation for monitoring parking areas and traffic zones — letting you track where and when cars appear, with no manual checks and no barriers.

On top of it you build occupancy counters, detection of vehicles stopped in restricted spots, and flow measurement across the site. Detection runs continuously, so the camera image turns into measurable data instead of hours of footage to review.

Real-time occupancy

Every detected car feeds a count of free and occupied spaces — you know the state of the lot without a walk-round.

Configurable zones

You define exactly which areas are watched — parking spaces, entrances or no-stopping zones.

Around-the-clock monitoring

Detection runs continuously, 24/7, with no fatigue or breaks — every vehicle movement is covered.

How car detection works

Industrial cameras cover the parking lot or traffic zone while vision servers run object detection with the YOLO model at the edge. Every car detection becomes an event that integration gateways forward to AndonCloud and machine PLCs.

The event turns into an occupancy count, an alert, an andon signal, a dashboard entry and a line in a report — with no footage sent to the cloud and no strain on your infrastructure.

Detection at the edge

The YOLO model runs locally on the vision server — low latency and no footage streamed off-site.

Andon & PLC integration

A detected event can trigger a light signal, a barrier opening or a notification to staff.

No footage in the cloud

Analysis happens at the edge — only events leave the site, not the video stream.

Example use and privacy

In a plant car park the camera counts occupied and free spaces, and when a car stops in a traffic zone or by the gate the system raises an alert for staff while the event lands in the occupancy report.

The system recognises the object and its state, not the identity of people — it performs no biometric identification, face recognition or licence-plate reading.

No personal identification

Detection is about an object and its state, not personal data — no face recognition and no plate reading.

A full event trail

Every detection is logged with time and zone, ready for occupancy and vehicle-flow analysis.

Ready for reports

Every detection lands in a report with time and zone — ready for parking-occupancy trend analysis.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

  • The presence of a passenger vehicle in the watched zone — in a parking space, at an entrance or in a traffic zone. The system recognises the object and its state, not the identity of people.
  • No. Detection is about an object and its state — there is no biometric identification, face recognition or licence-plate reading.
  • Yes. Detection areas are configurable — you mark parking spaces, entrances or no-stopping zones, and the system reacts only there.
  • A detection feeds the occupancy count and can trigger an alert, an andon signal, a dashboard entry and a report line; it can also trigger a controller action such as opening a barrier.
  • Yes. Car detection is the basis for counters of free and occupied spaces and for measuring vehicle flow across the site.
  • Yes. The YOLO model runs at the edge on the vision server, so the reaction happens as the event occurs.
  • Standard industrial IP cameras covering the parking lot or traffic zone; the image is analysed locally by the vision server.
  • No. Analysis happens at the edge — only events leave the site, not the video stream.

The Car class is an object detector that recognizes passenger vehicles in the camera image. Car detection is the foundation for parking areas and traffic zones — it lets you track where and when vehicles appear, without manual checks or barriers.

In AndonCloud, industrial cameras cover the parking lot or traffic zone and vision servers run detection at the edge with the YOLO model. Every car detection becomes an event that flows through integration gateways into AndonCloud, feeding occupancy counters, dashboards, alerts and reports — as well as more complex logistics scenarios.

For example, car detection lets you measure parking-space occupancy and spot vehicles stopped in traffic zones. The system recognizes the object and its state, not the identity of people — it performs no biometric identification, so it supports traffic management while respecting privacy.
